STAFFORDSHIRE ROPE KNOT MARK- (BLUE) WILLOW- c. 1891-1920 SANDWICH TRAY/4 PLATES- EXCELLENT!
$178.99
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS A LOVELY RARE SANDWICH TRAY WITH FOUR MATCHING PLATES FROM STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND IN A BLUE WILLOW PATTERN. I’M UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE EXACT MAKER BUT IT IS FROM STAFFORDSHIRE AS THE ROPE KNOT MARK IS A SYMBOL OF THAT POTTERY REGION. THE TRAY AND PLATES DATE FROM 1891 TO 1920 WHEN “ENGLAND” ONLY WAS USED IN THE BACK STAMP.

Description
THE TRAY AND SANDWICH PLATES ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS OR CRAZING (A FEW CRAZING LINES ON BACK OF TRAY). THERE APPEARS TO BE A REPAIR (FILLING) TO A WEE UNDER THE RIM CHIP ON THE TRAY …. WHICH I ALMOST OVERLOOKED.
THE WILLOW PATTERN AND BLUE COLOUR ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR. THE TRAY HAS A RAISED PATTERN ALONG THE RIM EDGE WHILE THE PLATES ARE SLIGHTLY RECESSED AT THE VERGE. THE TRAY HAS AN IMPRESSED “833” ON THE BACK, ONE OF THE PLATES HAS “1233”.
THE TRAY MEASURES 12 1/8 INCHES FROM HANDLE TO HANDLE END AND 6 1/2 INCHES TO THE SIDES. THE PLATES ARE 5 1/4 INCHES SQUARE.
IT IS A RARE UNIQUE SET AND WOULD MAKE A WELCOME ADDITION TO YOUR BLUE WILLOW COLLECTION !!
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING.
